Will the Information Commissioner start fining public sector organisations?

So long as public sector organisations believe that there are no consequences to data protection infringement, then they will not invest in the staff or systems to ensure that the information they use and hold is accurate, secure and shared as needed rather than shared because it is easier not to share.

Even a £250k fine would be a shot across the bows for the larger organisations to say “This has just become wasted money which you could have invested in improvements”.
