Do GP Practices really want to deal with patients?

Do GP Practices really want to deal with patients?

During the pandemic there was a GP who said that their contract did not mean that they had to actually see patients.

There are a lot of good GP Practices around but it is also clear that there a lot of indifferent ones around – getting patients to chase up the results of their own blood tests is just a sign of a lack of ownership, or more simply, they just want to save staff time and money.

The patient is not the best person to engage with other NHS organisations when blood test results or similar have not arrived – it is the GP staff who are best placed because they should know the system and how it works in reality.

The NHS will never improve unless staff own what they do.
